Georgia: The Cradle of Wine

An 8,000-Year Legacy: Winemaking is not just an industry in Georgia; it is our soul. With a history spanning over 8,000 years, Georgia is scientifically recognized as the birthplace of Vitis vinifera. While other regions adopted winemaking, Georgia perfected it before the dawn of modern civilization.

The Living Library of Grapes: Georgia boasts an unparalleled genetic diversity of vines. Of the 1,400 ancestral varieties known to history, over 525 unique grape varieties still flourish here today. From the bold, tannic Saperavi to the aromatic Rkatsiteli, our land offers a palette of flavors found nowhere else on Earth.

The UNESCO-Recognized Qvevri Method: At the heart of our identity is the Qvevri - a large, egg-shaped clay vessel buried in the earth. This ancient subterranean fermentation process allows the wine to age at a natural, stable temperature, creating "Amber" wines of extraordinary depth. This method is so vital to human history that it is inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Kakheti - The Epicenter of Tradition: In the fertile Alazani Valley, under the shadows of the Caucasus Mountains, lies Kakheti - Georgia’s premier wine region. It is here, amidst the most prized micro-zones, that the Uzunashvili family has served as stewards of the vine for centuries, bridging the gap between Georgia’s ancient past and the refined glass of wine you enjoy today.
